He had earlier served as a
He spent his 2003-04 sabbatical at the University of Rochester, New York, USA, and the University of Oxford, UK, and his 2008 sabbatical at Purdue University.
He is the first Fellow of the Singapore Psychological Society (1992) and the first Professor of Psychology (1997) in Singapore. During 2010-16, he was the first Distinguished Professor of Management at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
Ramadhar Singh has conducted experimental research in management and psychology at levels of the individual (decision-making, impression formation, interpersonal attraction) , the group (age-related changes, intergroup relations), the organization (diversity, job satisfaction, leadership effectiveness, prediction of performance, reward allocation), and the society (cross-cultural differences, distributive fairness, intuitive prosecution, prediction of donation) since 1970.

In 2021, the Indian Institute of Management Indore gave him its first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Research to “… celebrate his commitment to and a quest for knowledge of human behavior in organization and society.”
In 2022, the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur established an annual Prabha and Ramadhar Singh Distinguished Lecture in Psychology to celebrate their “sustained contributions to the advancement of Psychology and Management as a Science in Asia.”
For making formal education easily accessible to rural children of his native village in Balara, the KAKA Community Learning Center of Nepal honored Ramadhar Singh with the KAKA 2022 Education Forever Award.
In 2022, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, Washington DC, USA inducted him into the Heritage Wall of Fame for his “invaluable contributions to the field of personality and social psychology” and for his “passions and commitment” to psychological sciences.
